Does "Hanlon's Razor" apply to the Governing Body?
by stuckinarut2 ini recently learned of the term "hanlon's razor".. wikipedia defines it as: .
hanlon's razor is an aphorism expressed in various ways including "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
" it recommends a way of eliminating unlikely explanations for a phenomenon (a philosophical razor).. so could it be said that this applies to the gb / society ?.

Philosophical razors:
In philosophy, a razor is a principle or rule of thumb that allows one to eliminate ("shave off") unlikely explanations for a phenomenon.[1]
Razors include:
- Occam's razor: When faced with competing hypotheses, select the one that makes the fewest assumptions and is thus most open to being tested. Do not multiply entities without necessity.
- Grice's razor: As a principle of parsimony, conversational implications are to be preferred over semantic context for linguistic explanations.[2][3]
- Hanlon's razor: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.[4]
- Hume's razor: "If the cause, assigned for any effect, be not sufficient to produce it, we must either reject that cause, or add to it such qualities as will give it a just proportion to the effect."[5][6]
- Hitchens' razor: "What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence."
- Alder's razor: Also known as "Newton's flaming laser sword", it states that if something cannot be settled by experiment or observation then it is not worthy of debate.
- Popper's falsifiability principle: For a theory to be considered scientific, it must be falsifiable.
- Rand's razor: concepts are not to be multiplied beyond necessity—the corollary of which is: nor are they to be integrated in disregard of necessity.[7]

Commas within quotes:
The most common question people ask about quotation marks is whether periods and commas go inside or outside, and the answer depends on where your audience lives because in American English we always put periods and commas inside quotation marks, but in British English periods and commas can go inside or outside.

So my PIMO Younger Brother Tried To Kill Himself Today
by pale.emperor inwe all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.
he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.
he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.

Im happy with how it went. Any hey, i even placed a book! -- pale.emperor
Thanks for the update; it's great you were able to talk to the therapist sans JWs present. Those of us who continue to deal with like issues understand. When I was in a life-threatening situation, the thought conveyed to me by family was not preserving the present life but seeking everlasting life. It was then I regretted "bringing" my family into The Truth.
Where will you make a notation for the placement?
Blessings and Peace.

It was the the mock virtuoso but tepid guitar playing (which sent the fake audience into raptures) of the "brother" that, strangely, made me recall Crossroads. -- CC
Yeah, emperor -- I just now posted the above on the Steve Vai thread, but I was not so charitable. Perhaps I am wrong. I was just so put off by the whole thing that I didn't give the soloist his due.
Oh, just saw the "half decent"! All right, then!

Difficult to internalize that all the connections are gone
by truthseeker ini was in my old stomping ground a couple of months ago and happened to be walking past the home of an old family friend.
word is in the hall that i used to go to is that "i am one of them" meaning apostate.
no one from my old hall has contacted me to find out what happened.

I started reaching out to my mom JW family and it has been great getting to know them after all this time. -- truthseeker
What's ironic, truthseeker, is that for many of us the non-JW family welcomes us back, and this despite many years with little or no contact. Apart from the typical dysfunction of any family, the unreasonable control over your associates as a JW just doesn't exist in "normal" families.
Continue reaching out. Family matters, even if it's long-lost or "new" family.
